TF + DIFFA Dining by Design 2012

Today is the day! The Architectural Digest Home Show opens – along with the DIFFA Dining by Design tables. Our “Emerging Designer” table will be on display at Pier 94 through Monday – if you’re in NY, we hope you can check it out (along with SO many amazing table creations and the AD Home Show!). Here are some images and the info behind our inspiration, in the event Pier 94 is not one of your destinations over the next three days…
Our inspiration…“Vuelta” by Christian Lacroix through Designers Guild, distributed at Osborne & Little. Our most heartfelt thank you to all at Designers Guild and Osborne & Little for their generous donation of fabric to benefit DIFFA – Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS.
“Vuelta conjures up a scene of the flowers thrown to the toreros after the corrida.
As a reference to this bullfighting tradition, a rain of carnations – his favorite flower – would also pour onto Christian Lacroix after each show.”
As a continuation of this over-the-top floral print by Lacroix, we had an 8′ x 8′ platform handpainted to match the table skirt. We have NO doubt in our minds that our decorative painter is one of the best in the world…we are still in awe of how beautifully he continued the pattern and colors exactly onto the floor – the extension of Lacroix’s “rain of carnations.”
We chose lucite ballroom chairs – the “Crystal Chair” from Canvas Home – as to not compete with the table and flooring. Below, a view right through!
A red ruffle at each corner is our reference back to Lacroix’s original inspiration – the red of the matador and the throwing of red carnations!
And to the tabletop… layers, layers, layers!
The blue and white plates were a vintage LA flea market find, perched above Mottahedeh Blue Lace chargers. Napkins and placemats from William Wayne. Towle silver from Bed, Bath and Beyond – love us a little high-low!
Thank you again for the true generosity of those at Designers Guild + Osborne & Little, and our amazingly talented vendors that we are honored to call friends: Luther Quintana Upholstery (tablecloth) and Agustin Hurtado (custom painted floor).

The fabric is a favorite of mine, and the platform is just fantastic, almost unbelievable. I love the plates and napkins you chose, too!
BEYOND! Beautiful! I cannot wait to see it in person tonight. Well done TF. xoxo
After pushing through the swooning crowd around your table this afternoon at the AD show, I was blown away by your beautiful Christian Lacroix creation! Your understanding and appreciation of the line is obvious and speaks volumes in regards to your talent. Thank you for once again including us in your exciting work. Best- J
So fabulous!! Loved the whole thing – fun, colorful and tied together with a wonderful cohesiveness!!
thank you, all…and Julie, especially for your generous donation from OAL! XO
Suysel & Anne,
You have seriously outdone yourself!! The “matador” red peeking out. The fabulous floral and the restraint to use the lucite which highlight, yet don’t compete with your fabulous floral design!!!!
Ole!
xoxo Elizabeth
Yet, another fab Tilton Fenwick creation! Loved seeing this last Thursday!
Beautiful table!
Congratulations.
saludos.
